I personally love the joycons as well, not having to have both hands in a single spot has made gaming for long sessions really really nice, although I admit, on some games like splatoon for me personally it doesn't feel quite as good as using the Switch Pro. But which of Nintendo's dizzying lineup of controllers work with the company's newest console? Kinda hard to play Splatoon without motion controls.

'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe' Switch and Wii U Controller Options: Which controllers can you use?

I wish Nintendo just made the Wii U pro controller backwards compatible right out of the box. I'd take it even if motion controls, nfc reader, and the screen shot button were necessary omissions. Despite it's weird design, it's got a bit of a classic look to it. And it'd be nice to be able to use them instead of having them just sit around. Also, while yes hardware details differ that has nothing to do with bluetooth; the Switch and WiiU Pro controllers both use bluetooth to communicate with the console and the only difference in this respect is the software ignoring one of them. That means that in fact, yes, the Switch is ignoring the older controllers; or, probably more accurately, specifically not ignoring compatible controllers. Of course, if it didn't that doesn't mean a game would be compatible as the game would need to map buttons to functions and not need such features as the gyro which older controllers wii u controller switch don't have. It's just easier to not support it and let people wii u controller switch some technical knowledge use it anywaythan to support it and having to deal with the confusion of people not understanding that it doesn't have a gyro. The same reason the Wii was originally compatible with GameCube controllers. The Switch has no backwards compatibility, so until they start releasing Wii U virtual console games I don't see it happening. Tech specs otherwise aren't as important to me. The way the Wii U Pro controller feels, the grip, the shape, the size, everything is perfect in my opinion. It's such a wide controller, it's so nice. I don't even have particularly large hands, but having my hands spaced so far apart is wonderful. The shape of the handles is just pure comfort. It is the most comfortable gaming controller I have ever held. The WiiU Pro was amazingly light and had amazing battery life. But I always felt even though the build quality was great it felt 'cheap' because the lightness. Surely N will give us WiiU Pro support as they have hinted at it and we know it's easily doable.

Do you think you need 4 Pro controllers? This will pretty much determine if I buy the Switch or not. When removed from the system, the Joy-Con can be used by a single player using both controllers or by two people holding one controller each. I was very much surprised at how good it was and felt very relieved to be honest, Nintendo stopped producing them and I have been watching their prices go up every day! Also, the page says the dongle has a Dinput mode, any idea how you'd go about setting it up? PowerA Wired Controller Plus While some people prefer to take their Switch systems with them wherever they go, others rarely take them out of the dock. Image credit: Nintendo Bottom Line The Nintendo Switch is a compelling and innovative upgrade on the Wii U, but perhaps not quite the slamdunk some expected. Masochists aren't even able to use the Wii U GamePad to control Mario Kart 8 on Switch even if they have it lying around and need extra buttons for just one more person during multiplayer. And then I got one and it's easily my favorite controller to date. Yeah, there's no gyro on the Wii U pro.
